problem setting up zoho as a pop account in Mac Mail

I just signed up for zoho mail, and I want to be able to download to my Mac via POP.

I followed the instructions for setting up my account in Mac Mail, and enabled POP service in my Zoho settings. However, when I initially tried to set up the account, I got a warning that Mail could not contact the server. When I tell Mail to fetch new mail from my Zoho account, the Activity window displays a "preparing to retrieve messages..." message, and the Mail Activity panels shows two messages downloading (very slowly), but then the messages never show up on my Zoho mailbox (nor have they been shunted to Junk). If I repeat the procedure, it seems to try to download the same two messages again, with the same outcome.
