Process check: Skipping Leads module and using Accounts & Contacts instead - what do we loose?

Hello community,
New to Zoho and trying to figure out how to match our process to features available. Semantics aside, we are interested into functionality and what we might loose if we don't use the Leads module.

Currently we get "raw/cold leads list" that often have multiple people (contacts) associated with a company or during initial prospecting we discover that one person is not the best contact and we should shift our efforts to a different contact.

In this case, we would need to add a new Lead and it seems little counterproductive to keep creating new and independent records (in Leads for the same Company) only to convert them all later. We could have 1000s of "i am not the the best person to talk about X" Leads just sitting there.

So, our thought is to start everything from the perspective of Accounts (essentially company) because we can see all Related contacts in the same View and then we can add custom field of "Contact Status" to track our prospecting efforts with each contact.

What functionality do we loose if we don't utilize Leads module and/or use it just capture our handful of web forms?
