Re-mapping Company Name and Account Name from Leads to Accounts

Hi,

I work mostly in a B2C environment (landscape design + build), but on occasion do B2B work, so I've kept the Accounts module. I'm using the popular workaround that suggests converting residential Leads to Accounts, but have run into a snag with filling out Lead info.

For our process, we prefer to get as much info as possible from each Lead, including where they work, etc. But by filling in the Company field, this now becomes their Account Name in Accounts. However, their Account Name should be 'Smith Residence,' instead of their company's name. Yes, I could go in and rename this in the Accounts after the fact, but then I lose the field info of where they actually work.

Ideally in Leads module, I want to keep Company Name as just that, but not have it automatically map to Account Name. I'd like to manually input Account Name once they're converted to an Account (Client). But there does not appear to be a way to 'unmap' the Company field in Leads from the Account Name field in Accounts.

I've thought of a few workarounds myself using custom fields, but I'm not sure they're the best way to go, nor do I think they'll convert over from the Lead if needed. 

Any suggestions?
