Record of Mass Email Sent

I sent a mass email and I can't see a record of that in each Lead's record. When I send a single email to a Lead or Contact using the Send Mail button, that is recorded in that Lead's or Contact's record, but when a Lead or Contact is included in a mass emailing, there is nothing recorded. How can I correct this?
