Record owner & person doing data import mismatch results in "empty values" error!?


Found a weird bug when trying to update a bunch of records using the Import records feature in Zoho CRM.  Took us a few days to figure out.   We tried importing .XLS, .XLSX, and .CSV.

We kept getting errors trying to import data, some records would be marked as "ignored" because there were "empty values" for one or more of the mandatory fields.  Problem was, there were no empty values.  Even when we just imported the mandatory fields (a simple 1 record, 4 field table) it would ignore them (see below).


Then on a whim, we made sure that the ownership for all of the records was switched to the same person doing the import.   It worked fine after that.

Question is, why?

1. Why is this marked as an "empty values in mandatory fields" error?   

2. Why does it matter if it isn't the same person?   Zoho CRM itself allows you to edit records, regardless of who created it / owns it.

Is  there a work around or a fix?   We would rather not have to do a blanket switch of the record owners each time we need to do a data import.
