Hello, I own a real estate development company. We buy raw land, then develop the area, constructing roads and houses. All the money used to construct this houses is not an expense but the cost of goods sold for the houses. So lets say i build 10 houses and I spent 1,000,000. Then my cost of goods sold per house or item is 100,000. My question is how do i record this in zoho books? If I record an expense to the cost of goods sold account it appears in my income statement at the moment it is recorded not at the moment the house is sold and this is not correct. So I would like to know how do i record all the expenses incurred while the project is in construction so that when i sell the houses those expenses will be the cost of goods sold of the houses. At the same time when they have not been sold yet this amount should appear as inventory.
