Recovering emails from accidentally deleted pop accounts

I had two pop accounts retrieving emails from dedicated domains.  I was making changes to these accounts, and deleted them, assuming the emails would remain with the main zoho account, as happens in gmail.  When I saw them gone, I set the accounts up again, and the emails were back, but the next day I logged in, and they were gone.  Is there some way to retrieve these emails?  Unfortunately, they were not backed up, which was the point exercise.  Doh!
