Is there a way to specify a link target type in a link created in a custom related list? 

I'm having trouble creating a proper "mail:to" link if there is an email hyperlink in a customer related list. Also, are you always forced to make a new tab on custom related list links? There are no documented attributes for these in any of the documentation. Please advise.
