How do related lists work?

Related list helps weave the contextual cross-module data into relevant modules. It is served as a new layout component that can be added to the detail view pages of any supported module in Zoho Sprints. After configuration, the related list is available as a named tab alongside Details, Comments, and other existing tabs. It displays a set of linked records pulled from another module in your workspace or from an external system.
  1. Specify the target module from which the data needs to be looked up.
  2. Define the conditions based on which the data must be fetched.
  3. Select the target module and the associated layouts in which the list must be included. (Use custom function script to fetch data from external sources.)
The relationship allows contextual data mapping and eliminates the need to hop between modules or windows.

Components of related list

  1. List Types: Lookup Module and Custom Function.
  2. Lookup Module: Source module from where related data flows.
  3. Custom Function: Script that enables data to be fetched from external sources.
  4. Related Module: Target module where the related data is floated.
  5. Prefill Conditions: Criteria that helps filter and auto-populate related records in the list.
  6. Backlinks: Bidirectional relationship between the module and the related records.
  7. Detail View Layout: Layout of the details page of the related module in which the related list is configured.

Types of related lists

There are two types of related lists: Lookup Module type and Custom Function type.
