Resources are not Users and Users are not Resources
The good news is that we are committed to using Zoho Project because it has great value and functionality. The bad news is that there are basic improvements that need to be made.
One of my pet peeves with Zoho Project is the blending of Users and Resources. Resources are not Users and the requirement to have an email address for every Resource is cumbersome and not practical. In addition, having to pre-register a Resource in a convoluted fashion is frustrating.
Users are not necessarily Resources, but may be individuals that are monitoring the project may never has tasks.
Also, there is a security issue with the current blended User and Resources into one object, as Resources have access to the Document library. Meaning that documents that are meant for "Users" are also available to "Resources".
This is not a new issue, I see that users have been asking for a fix to this problem for at least 9 years. Do you have this on your timeline to fix?
Please add this to the list of other fundamental issues that need to be fixed such as Dependency assignment and UI issues.
Task Inline Editing Enhancement
Hi All, Today, we have made an enhancement in task inline editing. In 4.0, task edit is moved in a single screen in a pop-up. We designed this in-order to make the task edit across the product to be the same. Let it be in Feeds, Tasks & My Tasks tab, Calendar & My Calendar tab, a click on the task title will open the popup and user can edit the values. Customers pointed us the inline editing was very useful to them & how much they miss that in 4.0. Based on the feedback, we have rolled out this enhancement.

Tip: How to print the Gantt View
Though we move from the traditional project management system (using papers) to an online project management system, we still prefer to have a printed copy of the activities/tasks that are to be done in the project. This way, we can carry the to-do lists with us for the meetings and refer when we are offline. UI enhancements in Gantt charts
We recently launched a bunch of new features in Projects. Our Gantt charts were revamped to accommodate the most awaited feature - four types of task dependency. Here is a brief summary of the enhanced features supported by Gantt charts that will come in handy while working with task dependencies: Drag a line to set dependency. It's that simple. Link tasks using all the four types of dependencies. Drag a line from the predecessor task to the successor task in the Gantt chart to create a new dependency.
