Probably the single most used phrase found in moderator posts to questions is "We have that in our road map".

I think it would be very helpful to your user community if you could share a little more info with us.

I don't expect firm dates or timetables for release updates. I think most people understand that software development is like herding cats. It doesn't always go the way you want or expect.

But at the same time, you could give us some general information. I really would like to see the list of items on the road map and how they are prioritized. Because you do not share much development info with your users you may not have a good sense of which features are in the highest demand. You may simply be basing it on who is screaming the loudest in the forums (If that is the criteria I hope that I am the loudest- BTW).

Sharing this simple info can help you manage our expectations about which updates will be coming in the next release. In turn, that will help us manage the expectations of our users/employees. In short, it gives us a little bit of guidance, but it is in no way a firm promise.

It also has the benefit of inspiring some feedback from your user group so that you do not spend time on updates that may benefit only a small segment of your user base at the expense of improvements that will have broader benefits.

I strongly encourage you to do this for your user community.
