Roles

I am struggling to make changes to roles. I added some subordinate roles and nothing shows up in the lookup. I wanted to delete a role. No joy. I can't even get the help to work. My sales guys have the wrong role now, which I'd like to change, but can't crack this apparently complicated set up. Any help out there? mes
