Sales orders showing as overdue based on Delivery status not shipped status
Hello.
As a new user coming from a different ERP platform I was very confused to see many of my sales orders were showing as 'overdue' (past the expected ship date) even though they had shipped on time.
I reached out to support and have been informed that goods are not identified as shipped until they are delivered, that is, if the expected ship date is 1 July and you shipped on 1 July, but the goods are not delivered until 5th July, the goods are 4 days overdue. Essentially Zoho is saying an order is overdue for shipping based on an order being received (delivered) by the expected ship date.
In most every other ERP platform I have ever used, an expected 'received date' (or delivered date) is very different to the 'expected ship date' or the 'actual ship date'. Typically there's a gap from shipping to delivery.
I'm interested as to how other users get around this (or are you happy seeing orders as overdue even though they have shipped not received?). Has anybody discovered a work-around?
If not - Zoho I would like to submit the idea that the overdue status is determined by the difference between the expected ship date vs the actual ship date, and separate it out from the delivered date. Once something has shipped it's no longer 'overdue'. For statistics you could include a report for DIFOT that identifies your average shipping consistency, but for the purpose of the main sales order overview screen - orders are only 'overdue' if they have passed their expected ship date and the order has not shipped (as yet).
