Screening for blank fields when using filtering criteria

Useful would be the ability to screen for "blank" fields in reports.

We currently run reports and exports them in Excel. Using Excel filtering capabilities, we then can detect fields that were left blank by the data entry operator.
Short of making ad hoc fields mandatory, I would suggest adding a

" Field X" contains "nothing" capability to what is otherwise a comprehensive filtering system.

Thanks for considering what would seem to be a relatively easy request to meet.
