Search Tool Only Sometimes Works

We are having an issue with the Search tool working only sometimes. This has happened across several users on several machines, across the country. When searching for a name or company, sometimes a result will appear, other times it says "Loading" at the top and doesn't process. Clicking refresh generates a blank page.
