Self referencing tables

I need to have a form that includes a dropdown lookup that references itself.

For example a form called 'COMPANIES' where there is a field called 'PARENT COMPANY' that allows you to select from the records already entered in 'COMPANIES'.

This doesn't seem to be possible - is there a way to do it?
