Sending Mail As : Unable to connect

Sending Mail As : Unable to connect

I have a Gmail account configured via POP3. When Using Zoho platform and attempting to "send messages as" to be from the Gmail account with reply to Gmail account I get the following error:
--------------------
Unable to connect SMTP server:smtp.gmail.com Reason:Authentication failed:535-5.7.8 Username and Password not accepted. Learn more at535 5.7.8 http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?answer=14257 ja5sm47190281pbc.14 - gsmtp

This happened after I used Gmail "application specific password" and did not get failed authentication when reinitializing Gmail POP3 at zoho.

As a confirmation of Gmail account authentication I got this in gmail inbox:

Hi Alaa,   You have successfully created an app password for aasalem10@gmail.com.  "zoho" Created on "09/10/2013 07:58:41 ص"  This application password will allow you to access your Google account from a device or application that can only be configured with a username and password, rather than a username, password, and a verification code.  If you did not generate this app password, someone may have broken into your account. Go to the recent activity page to see if anything looks suspicious and to see what to do next.  To manage your app passwords, visit your app password settings page.  You can update your 2-Step Verification settings at any time.   Sincerely, The Google Accounts team
