Sending text messages to cell phones from Zoho Mail

I use Zoho Mail from my home PC for non-business purposes. Sometimes, I would like to be able to use Zoho to send text messages to (and receive them from) the cell phones of friends.

Please tell me:
(1) Is this possible?
(2) If it is, then how do you take a friend's cell phone number and turn it into a destination address for the text message? In addition to the phone number itself, might the address also include the carrier name and/or the cell phone user (sign-in) name for the account?

For example, might the text address look something like:
5551234567johnsmith99@verizon.com

I'd appreciate any advice that you can give me.
