Separate web hosting causing email conflict

Hello, I'm a web designer and my client recently registered a domain name, and created a subdomain name through Zoho for his email a week ago. It worked fine until I signed up for a webhosting service elsewhere to work on his actual website, but once the name servers were changed, it caused email conflicts, and he can't sent or receive now. What is the solution so that he can continue using email through Zoho as before, while I can continue work on his website?
