Separating out organic growth opportunities from new client opportunities

I can't see how I easily split my potentials into two separate buckets:

The first would be for upsell opportunities with existing clients

The next would be for opportunities already identified and qualified but with totally new clients.

Right now I am having to do all this tracking and managing in a spreadsheet which makes the CRM somewhat redundant. Does anyone have any good ideas?
