Set Email Notification on Edit

Can a feature be added to send a formatted email on edit or delete. This would be identical to the Set Email Notification on Add. There have been several applications where an audit trail is needed. In these cases I have used a sendmail script to list all the fields. This works but it would be nicer if I just have to check a box to get a nicely formatted email.
