Set up POP account error: "[AUTH] Username and password not accepted."

I am trying to link my zoho mail to my personal gmail account; have followed instructions in this link: https://help.zoho.com/portal/en/kb/crm/integrations/zoho/zoho-mail/articles/gmail-crm-integration#Configure_Zoho_Mail_Add-on 

However, the error message "[AUTH] Username and password not accepted." appears when I key in my linked gmail account & password for authentication. Right after the error message, Google sent me an email: "Sign-in attempt was blocked", with the full description below:  

Google blocked the app that you were trying to use because it doesn't meet our security standards.
Some apps and devices use less secure sign-in technology, which makes your account more vulnerable. You can turn off access for these apps, which we recommend, or turn on access if you want to use them despite the risks. Google will automatically turn this setting OFF if it's not being used.

Appreciate your help to troubleshoot this issue.
