Hi Zoho Analytics team,
I use the native Shopify connector in Zoho Analytics (cloud) to build reporting dashboards for Shopify stores. As far as I can tell, the connector does not sync product cost, so there's no way to calculate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), gross profit or product-level margin from the synced data alone.
What I've checked:
- The Product Variants table has Price, Compare At Price, SKU and Inventory Item ID, but no cost field.
- There is no Inventory Items table in the synced modules.
- In Shopify, product cost lives on the InventoryItem object (unitCost in the GraphQL Admin API / "Cost per item" in the admin), not on the variant.
- Order Line Items has quantity and price, but no cost-at-time-of-sale.
My questions:
1. Can the current connector sync product cost in any way, for example through a setting, an optional module or a hidden column I've missed?
2. If not, is an Inventory Items module (with unitCost) on the roadmap? Is there an estimated timeline?
3. Until then, what is Zoho's recommended way to bring cost data in? Right now I plan to push a cost table through the Import API and join it to Order Line Items on Variant ID. Is that the approach you'd recommend, or is there a better supported option?
Why it matters: margin and profitability are usually the first thing Shopify merchants ask for. Without cost data, the prebuilt Shopify dashboards can only show revenue, not profit.
If this isn't supported yet, please treat this as a feature request. Other users who need it, please add a +1 or reply so the team can see the demand.
Thanks,
Raza
