Dear Zoho-team,
we are currently experiencing trouble in setting up automatic workflows within Zoho. In particular, we identified the following shortcomings:
- Workflows do not work when field updates are triggered through external Systems (API).
- Workflows do not work when field updates are triggered through an Workflow
- Workflows do not work when field updates are based on the functionality “mass data editing”
A simple example: We ask a customer for specific documents. When the customer does not send the information via Mail, which would involve a status change triggered through the API by our JBoss Application server, we want to ask him again automatically after 3 weeks. If he still not answers, we warn him to withdraw the contract. One week later without any response we would withdraw the contract and send him a bill.
After Zoho is kind of limited in its date functions, we considered to set a specific field after three week based on the workflow. When the field is set and we didn’t receive any response, we considered to proceed with the next workflow. However, and as indicated above, this is not possible as field updates triggered by workflows can not trigger new workflows.
Are there any workarounds? Or are there alternative solutions possible with other Zoho Modules? The current state is really a pain in the ass in terms of an automatic end-to-end process.
