Why can't we sort tasks (or projects) by the column headers?

What's mystifying is that in Books, Inventory, and CRM, we can sort by column headers in all views. Why the inconsistency? Even more frustrating, apparently, years ago this feature existed! What happened? Also, why has every request to implement the feature since its disappearance fallen on deaf ears -- (frighteningly) for years?

As a project manager, it is absolutely necessary to be able to sort and view tasks and projects by  any and all possible criteria. This is a basic feature that should be present in any tabular interface. Sorting makes it practical and easy to find entries in a table of data.

Please,  please... Implement this feature without further delay. I can assure you there is no feature more pressing and urgent than this.
