Hi

When will you add South African VAT and VAT Reporting to ZoHo Books?

The UAE version looks very close, except obviously we would love to directly interact with the South African Revenue Service - but that can come later.

Kind Regards

Ben

Hello all,

Glad to see your responses on our forum!

We apologize for the delay in getting back to you. There has been a change in priorities resulting in a revised ETA for the launch of South Africa edition.

Rest assured, we are actively working on the edition and will provide you with an updated ETA soon.

We sincerely regret the delay in this. For further queries, feel free to connect with us over chat or drop us a mail at support.africa@zohobooks.com. We will gladly assist you.

Have a good day ahead!

Sincerely,

We are tired of these empty promises. My bookkeeper and accountant can no longer bare using ZOHO without a VAT component. We will be reverting back to Sage.

Yeah, Have just started using this and the absence of decent VAT support is an issue. Guess I will be changing software.

It's been 4 years - and nothing, just words...

Our accountant has started testing our own inhouse developed GL that adds onto our own AR and AP systems.

We are off it soon as well.

It seems there is now a South African version of Zoho Books available.
Does anyone know if this resolves the VAT matter?

According to their marketing website, it looks like it: https://www.zoho.com/za/books/, but only in the paid edition: Pricing | Zoho Books.

Hello there,

We are super elated to announce that we have finally launched the South African VAT-ready edition of Zoho Books. It has been a long time in the making, and we are proud to present this to our South African consumer base. South Africa has always shown us exceptional support and it would be unjust not to focus on improving the product with regional nuances.

You can now send and receive VAT-compliant transactions and enable VAT treatments for contacts and items starting from the standard plan of Zoho Books. Most importantly, you will be able to generate VAT201 and audit reports, aiding you in seamless filing. Along with Zoho Books, other finance apps such as Expense, Inventory, Invoice, Billing, Commerce, Checkout, and Practice now come with VAT capabilities and regional nuances.

Please visit our blog to learn more about what's new, explore our revamped homepage to understand our capabilities, and review our plans and pricing to evaluate our offerings.

Any new signups from South Africa will be able to access the new edition. Existing users can seamlessly migrate their data to the South Africa edition using the DIY migration tool. We recommend you visit this guide and review the prerequisites in the migration section before starting the process.

We are always focused on improving the experiences of customers worldwide, and it is our foremost priority to push out features that enhance your accounting experience with Zoho Books. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused to our valuable customers and others not mentioned in this thread, and we hope to win them back to the software they once loved.

We are truly grateful for your consideration, patience, and understanding. Your feedback is most welcome; feel free to reach out to us at support.africa@zohobooks.com.

Sincerely,
Team Zoho Books

Hi

I have already migrated, and my bookkeeper is very happy - that means I am also very happy.

We will see what the month end and the VAT treatment gives - but so far - so good.

It took 5 years. Shows you how much we appreciate Zoho - sticking around for so long.

Thank you.

Hi Ben,

I am looking to migrate to the SA verison, can you maybe give any feedback on how the SA version is going for you now, 5 months down the line?

Thanks
Johnny

Hi Johnny
One of my clients migrated to the VAT version in the first 6 weeks after it was released and he did not experience any issue.   He is very happy with it.

My external accountant and my internal accountant are both very happy.

They do still do cross checks and there are still some issues with the VAT report from time to time that the figures we submit is not 100% the same as the ZOHO VAT report.

That said, we do imports, exports and sell in multi-currency and also do retail and services.

The only thing now, is the poor bank feeds - duplications etc...
