Spam being filtered into my inbox

I have recently noticed that quite a bit of spam mail, and some of it is VERY OFFENSIVE, has been coming through into my main inbox.  I am having to go through and delete these before even being able to see my regular mail, only for the fact that I'm afraid that I will open a spam by mistake and end up with malware or something worse.  

This started happening after the period of time when the system appeared to have issues with mail not being received - probably back when the flooding was happening.  Has anyone else had these issues?  I know that my boss is not happy with the service lately and if I tell him that I'm receiving this unwanted spam like this without a resolution, I am sure that he will end up wanting to change our account somewhere else, because I know he won't want his wife, who is also a part of our email system, to receive these kinds of emails either. 

I hope someone has some answers, as I hate having to sort through my inbox every day.
