Subject: Issue creating temporary mailbox due to OTP verification requirement

Hello Zoho Mail Support,

We are following your recommended approach for email migration and need clarification on how to proceed correctly.

Our intended migration approach is:

  1. Create a temporary mailbox katja.migration@nellajanuttu.fi
  2. Copy all emails from the current mail service provider into this temporary mailbox
  3. After the copy is completed, migrate the emails from
    katja.migration@nellajanuttu.fikatja@nellajanuttu.fi
  4. Finally, update the MX records to Zoho

However, we are currently blocked at step 1.

When attempting to create the mailbox katja.migration@nellajanuttu.fi, Zoho requires OTP verification and sends the OTP email to the same new mailbox (katja.migration@nellajanuttu.fi), which does not yet exist or receive mail.

Because of this, we are unable to complete the mailbox creation.

Could you please advise one of the following:

  • How can we complete OTP verification for a newly created temporary mailbox?
  • Is there a recommended alternative approach for creating a temporary migration mailbox?
  • Can OTP verification be sent to an existing admin mailbox instead?
