Templates for multiple modules

I am setting up my CRM, and I am stunned to learn that you can't access templates across multiple modules. For instance, if you want to work out of the CRM, and you want to email one template to a Contact, another to a Lead, and another to an Account, you have to duplicate the template 2 times and have it saved in 3 different places!

So far the only work around that I have found is to work out of Zoho mail, where you can select the template from any of the modules. But it seems the merge fields will not work out of Zoho mail.

Is there any other workaround I am not aware of for contact, lead, and account to access the same templates? Or is there a way to get the merge fields to work in Zoho Mail?


Moderation Update:
The merge tags (i,e.) fields are unique to the modules in the CRM. You can clone the templates across different modules. This will help if you want to use a template built for one module in another.
We are locking the post because it is not feasible to support templates that can be used across modules in the CRM.
