The new interface. First impressions:
Playing with toys from the HTML5 box, just because you can... It
doesn't mean you should.
The colour schemes are depressing, and the flat paper look is hideous if
you're not using windows 8 or 10, because it does not fit in with
the computer display scheme, at all.
Grey on grey, or lighter charcoal on dark charcoal, which is what all of
the options seem to come down to... Do you have an aversion to white?
There seems to be no way to change the pane layout for the window. You
can have your messages display vertically to the right, or tough, take
them in a new tab or window... Not good.
I want them horizontally in the same window.
There's no way to hide the bar containing contacts etc at the left
hand side of the screen, which is bad. There's no option to resize
the folders column, wasting yet more screen space, that's very bad.
I don't want to reply inline, quite often, I send replies that are
more than a few quick lines. Don't go all GMail on us, let us have a
proper new window for replies, just like the older version allows.
I need to be able to type multi page replies at times, replying inline
does not work for that. As for the new toolbar, way to go coping other
idiots who think that more clicks is more productive... It's not.
I want the options in front of me, not hidden in dropdowns.
The same applies to burying the options when it comes to who you are
sending to, along with the CC and BCC...
It looks like you've designed an interface for a childs 'my
first computer', not something for serious use. :(
You seem to want it to look clean and simple; I think you took it too
far.
Your overall layout and look is wasteful of screen real-estate, and
it's no better than any other of the horrible email providers out
there now; if I wanted GMail, Outlook or Yahoo, I'd be with them. :(
Sometimes change is good... Sometimes it's the last thing you want
or need though.... I have to say, I like the improved conversation view,
but it's not enough to make the new interface a winner.
I seriously hope that you don't have any plans to retire the older
style layout. I like having a decent webmail interface available.
