thunderbird failed to find settings for email account

i keep getting this message error trying to add my old zoho account after a recent re-install of xubuntu. it was working fine before, i am using the correct password and i have tried half a dozen 'solutions' found on the web. i am still exiled here. my gmail account loaded quite smoothly into TB so i have to assume this is a zoho problem... help?
