Tip #1: Handy shortcuts to move around your spreadsheet

Tip #1: Handy shortcuts to move around your spreadsheet

No matter the application, keyboard shortcuts are always a great way to save time and make you more productive. Here are a few quick key actions you can use in Zoho Sheet to navigate within your spreadsheet.

Moving to the next cell  (Tab, Enter, Shift+Tab)
You can use the Enter key to move to the cell below, from edit mode, while the Tab and Shift+Tab keys help you move to cells on the right and left respectively. Once you're done filling a row using the Tab key, pressing Enter will take you to the same position where you started, but on the next row. This way you get to enter your data quickly.

Navigate across large sections of data (Ctrl/Cmd+Arrows, Ctrl+Home/End, Home/End, Page Up/Down)
We all have files with many rows of data and often we don't remember exactly how many. This is where the following shortcuts come into play:

  • Cmd+arrows (for Mac) / Ctrl +arrows (for Windows): move easily across data regions
  • Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End: move to the beginning (first cell) of a sheet and the end of a sheet (lower-most row and right-most column of the cells used), respectively.
  • Home/End: move between the first and last used columns of a selected row.
  • Page Up/Down: move to the previous or next visible cell range.

No matter how much data you have, moving from one end to the other is just two keys away. You can use these along with the Shift key to select large sections of data without scrolling.

Move across sheets  (Alt+Arrows)
We often have multiple sheets within a spreadsheet, each containing a specific type of data. Use Alt+arrows(left/right) to move to the previous or next sheet in your current spreadsheet. This lets you quickly move between sheets to enter data or to browse through them.

Move between objects   (Tab, Shift+Tab, Ctrl/Cmd+Arrows)
Once you've selected an object (chart, button, or image), use the Tab key to move to the next adjacent object and the Shift+Tab keys to move to the previous object in the current sheet.

To move or position your objects using your keyboard, select the object you want to move, and use the arrow keys to position it precisely, or Cmd+arrow (for Mac) or Ctrl+arrow (for Windows) to move it column by column or row by row, or Cmd+Shift+arrow to align the right/bottom edge of the object with the adjacent row/column.
