Tip #3: Save your time by replicating formats
Formatting helps to create more visually appealing spreadsheets while keeping data organized. Selectively applying formatting options to your work, such as applying fonts, currency formats, or colors, can be time-consuming and repetitive. Replicating formatting guidelines for your work can help remove the burden of applying these menial tasks, which improve overall productivity in your workflow.
Let's say you are collaborating on a spreadsheet with your team and you have to create a combined report. It can be a tedious task to maintain consistency across all reports if you are required to change the formatting for each report from scratch. Even creating a new data set within an existing sheet can create formatting issues. Format Painter helps to replicate all formatting guidelines and helps make collaboration easy.
What is Format Painter?
Format Painter helps you copy-paste or replicate formats inside a spreadsheet. Though Zoho Sheet has the option to specifically paste formats, Format Painter allows you to easily replicate formats in a single click.
Format multiple ranges
Simply select the desired cell with the formatting for which you would like to replicate, then select Format Painter and drag/select the desired cell ranges to apply the formats at once. If you have more than one range to format, double click on the Format Painter icon and select the desired ranges, one after the other.
Duplicate conditional formats
Whether it's a single rule format, a color scale, or an icon set, you can simply copy the conditional format rules in a given range and apply them to a new range using Format Painter.
Replicate tables in a single click
Do you have a table format that needs to be used throughout the file? Use Format Painter to copy the table format as a whole and paste in a single click on the desired range. Note that this action will also paste the number formats from the source range.
Additionally, select the whole row/column using the headers to replicate row widths and column heights via Format Painter.
