Tip 47: Estimation planner

Tip 47: Estimation planner

Sprint planning becomes easier, smoother, more collaborative and more accurate with the Estimation Planner extension. Most work items involve multiple users, and each user's role and effort vary. To provide an unbiased and fair estimation point to the work item, it is essential to consider everyone's input. This helps ensure there is no deviation from the planned schedule and gives users confidence that the sprint can be completed as per the schedule.

Install the Estimation Planner extension from the Zoho Sprints Marketplace section. Once installed, any user with Edit Sprint permission can create a session with an estimation factor and an end date.

With just three simple steps, you can arrive at an estimation point for the work item including all the users involved in it.

Step 1: Create a session with estimation factor and end date (optional).
Step 2: Cast your votes for the work items
Step 3: View the estimation result

When the session ends or if you stop the session manually, the estimation result will be revealed to the users. Until then the users won't be able to view the estimation point to ensure there is no influence. The estimation point is calculated based on the estimation factor selected. The Sprint owner can change the estimation factor anytime to modify the estimation point.
