Tip of the week 74: Four tips to optimize your CTA for this holiday season

Are you yet to design your holiday email campaign?

Then, don't wait anymore. Because, the holiday season is just a couple of weeks away.

Let's start by learning how to optimize a key element and game-changer of any holiday email campaign  Call to Action ( CTA)

We all know that, increasing the conversion rate is the main objective of any email campaign. And obviously, CTA plays a major role in increasing the email campaigns' conversion rate.

So, here are four tips to optimize your email campaigns' CTA to the spirit of the holiday season.

1) Wordplay

The content around the CTA button and inside the CTA button plays a key role to improve conversion.

While crafting the content above and below the CTA ensure that,

The content above the CTA briefly explains and if required states the benefits of taking a particular action

The content after the CTA is short and concludes with the email campaigns' objective.

Reduce the content surrounding the CTA to improve visibility over the CTA

While crafting the content for the CTA button ensure that,

Actionable words are used.

The action message shared through CTA is definite and compelling.

The CTA message clearly states about the next action a subscriber must take

2) Size and shape

✔ Content Length

While customizing the size and shape of your CTA ensure that the action message is visible to the subscriber. So, choose the size and shape of your CTA based on the content length of the action message.

Easy to identify and click through all device

The visibility of CTA and its ease of access vary from one device to another. So, choose a CTA size that can be easily clickable from all devices and select a shape that makes the CTA clearly and easily visible.

3) Colors of celebration

The colors of the holiday season play a major role in determining the color of your email campaign and CTA button.

To help you get started here's a general thumb rule:

The color of CTA should blend with the theme of your email campaign

The color should make the CTA stand out from the rest of the email design colors for quick visibility.

4) The right thing at the right place

The objective of CTA is to compel the subscribers to take the required action. Positioning your CTA plays a key role in attaining this objective.

Here are a few tips to position your well-customized CTA.

Follow the logical flow of order

Place your CTA where the logical flow of reading comes to an end, which is at the bottom of the email campaigns' content.

Keep the main CTA above the fold

Ensure that the major CTA in your email campaign is placed far away from other email content. So, in such cases, the best way to make the CTA stand out is to place it above the fold.

In the last post, we learned about the subject line. Today we'll be learning about the preheader. If crafting content for emails, getting creatives done, and running email campaigns is your love, then unsubscribes are the heartbreakers.  You can save your emails from being unsubscribed/trashed by adding a proper subscription-preferences option in your emails (works best at the time of signup). Giving subscribers the option to choose what they want to receive from you and decide how often (frequency of the emails) your emails should hit their inboxes will increase the reach of your campaigns manifolds.
