Tip of the week 78: Sharing website updates via emails

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a technology that simply converts your website updates into a standardized computer language named XML. This, in turn, enables your website to automatically share updates via an email or RSS reader.
While this sounds slightly technical, your email marketing software simplifies the whole process. Let's first look at the benefits of the RSS-to-email campaign before diving into the tip.
Benefits of RSS-to-email campaign
1. Saves time and effort
From a sender's point of view, it's a one-time process. You just have to select and customize a template based on your preferences. The presence of ready-made, RSS-to-email templates makes the job all the more time-effective. From a recipient's point of view, they'll get to know all the updates without breaking a sweat.
2. Improves your SEO bottom line
More often than not, a company's blog/news updates are highly sought after by the customers. These automatic emails swiftly drive them to the website, thereby generating quality traffic. Subsequently, the time spent by your audience on your website (which is invariably high) sends a positive signal to the search engines. (Considered one of the signals for SERP ranking, high on-page time positively impacts other areas of SEO as well.)
Tip: Leveraging RSS-to-email feature
Copy the URL of your website/content feed and paste it into the RSS-to-email campaign. The built-in capability of your email marketing software automatically converts every website update to a newsletter with the relevant URL.
While the content gets added to the common email template you configure, the variables like image, date, title, and description are pulled in using merge tags. These tags can be configured at different points from within the template editor. The final step of this one-time process is defining the time intervals for your emails.

A custom template has been created, but every time we try to use it, it strips out all the CSS from the head.
