A trend in user interfaces lately that is driving me a little crazy is "controls show up sometimes" thing.

Worse, tho, is when those controls are too small. I find this trash can icon too small in the list view. About 30% of the time, when I am attempting to delete an email, I end up opening the email instead. 

One thing that would also be helpful: multi-select in list view. No, not the checkboxes. I have to click each one. I mean select one, then shift-click select for a range.
