Trouble adding attachments.

I have been using ZOHO CRM for a while now and have been amazed by the capabilities of this tool from the perspective of being an extremely cost efficient tool, and an open source solution. For the most part, I am very happy with my experience, however, I have been having trouble when adding attachments to anything in the CRM. I currently have a high end laptop with a duo core CPU and 4 GB or RAM, so I would expect that it would not have much trouble with pretty much anything I try to do. When I try to upload an attachment, both CPU cores max out at 100% and my machine slows to a crawl. Is there something anyone can recommend that will improve the performance of uploading files. At this point, the only solution I have been able to come up with is to let the process run its course, which means I cannot do anything else on my computer. I have also noticed that after the file has been uploaded (these are Word documents), my CPU cores continue to be maxed out at 100%. The only way I can get my computer back to the level of performance I expect is to use Task Manager to kill the process. Any ideas for a solution would be greatly appreciated.
