We have new products set up as projects, with the project name being the SKU.

And then a custom field in this project template is the name of the product.

I need a way to show the name of the product as well as the project name (SKU) and I am reluctant to include the product name in the project name with the SKU as it will make the project names very long and be messy and truncated (I assume) in most places.

However I don't know why, but we cannot customise the projects table using any custom fields. So I've got no way of displaying the product name against a project - as from the SKU alone, team members do not know what the product is without going into the project.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this and how we might be able to show the value of a custom project field (product name) without including it in the name of the project?

Hi, Geoff!

Let us see the options that can be used for this use case.

1. Project Custom Fields

Adding the product name as a project custom field would allow you to add it as one of the columns next to the project's title. In the Projects tab, you can view the project title along with the product name.

2. Tags

Add tags in the name of the product, add it to the required project and view them in the Projects list view.

Hope this helps you.

Point 1 was what I was already trying to do. The product name already exists as a project custom field but I can't figure out how to add this as a column in the table. I don't see how the layout helps, this allows me to customise the form when adding a project - where can we add these custom fields as columns?

Geoff,

Got it. Here are the steps to bring the fields as columns to the Projects List View.

From the Projects tab, click on the Add Columns icon on the top right side, mouse hover on the field you would like to add as a column and click on Add

Similarly, you can add Task custom fields and Issue custom fields as columns to their respective views.

Ah funnily enough, I just figured this out earlier before I saw your reply here.

Strangely, I didn't appear to be able to scroll right in the table before and had no idea all of the custom fields were already in the table. I've created a custom view now with the needed columns so this should be much better now.
