I get a frequent notification in a white text on black notification bar 'Unable to open server connection. (account name here)" on my Kindle Fire Phone.  Mind you, I do get my emails, eventually.  This seems to come up any time I have an email which has an attachment or an embedded image that needs to be downloaded.  I have good Internet connection via Wifi and also cell network, so it's not related to this.
