Unable to send mail using Alpine mail client

I've configured Alpine according to a post on the Arch Linux wiki and getting mail via IMAP is working fine. However, for the life of me, I can't SEND mail through the SMTP server! I've been working on this for a few days and it seems like others have experienced this error but with no resolution. Can anyone (maybe Zoho) help?

My SMTP line in Alpine reads like this:

smtp.zoho.com:587/user= me@mydomain.com/tls

When I try to send mail, it appears to be trying to connect to the mail server but then errors out with an error 334 saying it couldn't authenticate. I'm not ever prompted for my password. This is basically the same way I have Alpine set up with another mail provider and it works fine so I have to assume that the problem lies in the way the server is responding or something stupid I'm doing on my end that I am simply not seeing.

Can anyone offer any help? Has anyone gotten Alpine to work with Zoho's SMTP server? Zoho, can YOU answer this?
