Unofficial IMAP Support Thread
Guys - great work on getting IMAP out. It is well received and will be a great feature as it progresses through beta and into final stages.
Since its in beta there are bound to be some kinks that need to be worked out and I was hoping to get some help with a few.
- Disconnect - I'm repeatedly getting the error that Outlook can't connect to imap.zoho.com. It did work for a while, then the connection got dropped and Outlook is now freezing and crashing and I don't know if it's because Outlook keeps trying to connect to imap.zoho.com or something else. (XP, Outlook 2007) Is the crashing and inability to connect something that I am doing wrong or is it a bug in the IMAP server?
- Blackberry - I switched from POP access on my blackberry (via pop.zoho.com) to imap using the Verizon BIS and while POP worked fine, I can't seem to send or receive emails from the blackberry device. They are marked as being sent, but I don't receive them anywhere (I find it odd that the BIS doesn't require SMTP protocol information).
Also - I thought it would be helpful if somewhere on the wiki were posted "best practice" setup help for zoho IMAP. Because IMAP is a more complicated protocol, it would be helpful to know what the best settings are - and I would imagine the most common clients are Thunderbird and Outlook. Several questions I have are:
- Where is the best place to save Sent Items - will they automatically sync with the server (like gmail) or do we have to set Outlook to save them in the IMAP "Sent Items" folder
- How does Zoho IMAP handle deleted/purged emails? Should they be marked for deletion, then purged?
- When sending from a mobile device, will the sent items be saved into the server
Overall, it's a great big step forward and as users we appreciate all the hard work that goes into this stuff.
