I want to update the list I have for 'Client Types'. Is there a way to modify the list of choice so that the existing records are also updated?

For example, I have 'Dealer' as a category. I wish to update the list and have 'Dealer - product A' for all my existing dealers.

At the moment, if I change my options, the records will not be updated.

I do not wish to updated record. I want to modify my list of options and maintain the link between this list and the records.
