updating records using import

Is there a way to update records using the import method?

My application includes stats on professional athletes and i want to update different stat columns daily without adding duplicate entries.

I edited the "Name" column so that it was set to "no duplicate entries" but when i do the new import i get new records with blank columns instead of updated records.

What's my solution for updating records using the import method?
