URL Parameter tracking for Emails

Hi,

I am trying to send email templates that I have created to Contacts. I want to know how to add url parameter tracking into the email templates. I do not want to create campaigns, I want to choose who to email from my Contact list. How do I update the url parameters to track these smaller groups of people I am emailing?
