Im working with a new install of Zoho CRM (a blank slate). I want a simple CRM which contains Vendors, Contacts, Quotes modules.
I need Vendors to be able to update their details. However, its cost prohibitive for us to purchase the additional Portal user type which would allow this to happen!! (10,000 dollars.... per month!)
So Im thinking about not using the Vendors module at all, and using my Contacts module to hold details about the Vendor. There will never be more than 3 contacts for a Vendor, so Im thinking about having the Contacts module fields thus:
Vendor name
Vendor address
Vendor website
Contact 1 name
Contact 1 telephone
Contact 2 name
Contact 2 telephone
Contact 3 name
Contact 3 telephone
Obviously the Contacts Module was not designed to be used in this way, but it would mean Vendors would be able to update the details via the default (free) Portal.
Can anyone think of a reason why this would be a bad idea? I dont want to implement this, and then 6 months down the line realise that its has some unintended consequences.
