Validation Rules Ignored if Quote is Converted to Sales Order

Validation Rules Ignored if Quote is Converted to Sales Order

If my users convert a quote to a sales order my Validation Rules are ignored.

For example on my Sales Order I have a SHIP DATE field which must be set upon Sales Order Creation.

It works if I create a Sales order from scratch but not if I convert a Quote.
