View Recorded Data in Form Layout

Is "form view" an option??

I don't seem to be able to find a way to view just one record in the form view. It would be nice if I could see the entire record on one scree/view and then hit a button that said next to view the next record. I would also like to be able to edit the record in this view.

Surely there's a simple way to do this that I'm overlooking??
