What happens at the end of an autoresponder sequence?

What happens at the end of an autoresponder sequence?

When a contact has completed the autoresponder sequence (i.e. received all the follow ups) do they just stay in the same opportunity stage? Is there a way to automatically move them to closed-lost when they reach the end of the sequence?
