When I first got into segmenting and sending emails to contacts in Mailchimp I got so pissed because every time I wanted to keep some consistency or make changes in all of my email templates I had to
- Go in a hunting expedition for hours to find the text I wanted to changed across ALL templates (what if I missed one?!)
- Open each one and copy and paste the fix (monkey work that takes hours, plus what if I pasted wrong?)
I would waste hours:
- I would make mistakes, (customers would get "Hey how are you %FIRSTNAME%" - how well do you think that went over?!)
- Formatting would paste wrong so I would get "Hey how are you"
it goes on....
In the end the result was I was placed in the spam box. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT? ...Because that's whats going to happen. Then you will lose your hard earned opt-in list and email will be reduced to useless.
There is a solution, and we would need to lobby these people at Zoho. This solution is already in place to some extent at Active Campaign, Drip, and Flexie CRM.
Attached is a video explaining.
The irony is that the basic templating mechanism is ALREADY IN ZOHO. They just need to take it a step further and make it nestable, and provide a nice way to allow us to organize it
I am really exhausted from being forced to cut and paste. Its error prone and a waste of time. I also want a consistency to my written communications along with the ability to make broad-sweeping incremental tweaks to my messaging so that I can test response rates to overall changes. This feature can easily include the ability to be used across languages and also channels like text, or popups on a website, so that there is a really solid consistency across communications.
Please get in contact with me if you are interested in supporting this. I cant see who could not benefit, and I cant imagine you want to go and create hundreds of templates and then have to go in and find and edit them all when you want to make a change.
